36 – Meet Todd Polke – who he is and what he does. Currently, he’s in the Property Investment Industry. He also helps people create financial freedom and live life on their own terms.
41 – What’s the most exciting thing in Todd’s life right now? He’s setting out on his own, doing some of his own things, and absolutely loving it. What excites him is the different aspects of people’s lives that he can help with – whether it be finances, career, emotional support, and so on.
21 – Some words of wisdom from Todd Polke: Go where there’s an opportunity, not where you’re passionate. Do what you’re passionate about in your spare time, but find a vehicle that allows you to do this.
49 – Todd Polke’s story – where did he start, and what did he have to go through, to be where he is and what he is today? In school, he was an average student, learning things he didn’t want to learn and being unable to find instruction in the things that really interested him. After school he did “a lot of stuff in a very short period of time.” One of these was a personal training business, wherein his typical work day started at 4 in the morning and ended at 8 at night. He equated success to number of hours worked.
His turning point happened when he realized that no matter what he was doing, he just didn’t seem to be getting ahead. He describes that moment as a slap to his head. “Wake up,” he said. “There’s something you’re missing. There’s something going on that you’re not getting.” From there, he met a mentor who wasn’t in top health. Todd offered him personal training and he offered Todd business coaching. The rest is history.
31 – Todd shares some big tips on how to free up your time. “That all starts with getting control of your time. Time is our most precious resource that we have, and it’s the only constant across all humanity.”
06 – “The difference in the quality of our life is purely based on the different decisions we make with the time we have.”
07 – Todd shares some tips on how to get started – property, property investing, how to create some income. One great tip: there’s never a “right” time.
23 – “Whenever we’re thinking of increasing income, the first thing we think about should not be how much money can I make, it’s ‘how can I add more value?’ “
12 – Time Travel Moment, part 1: If you could go back ten years and tell your old self just one piece of advice, what would it be? Trust your gut, Todd says. He admits that he’s spent most of his time just second-guessing his gut, and it didn’t yield the best results.
50 – Time Travel Moment, part 2: If you were starting over from scratch today, with nothing but your experience, what’s the first thing you would do? Find a mentor, Todd says.
29 – Start of the QuickFire Questions: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
09 – What’s one of your personal habits that you strongly believe contributes to your success?
45 – What’s one tech, app, or piece of equipment that you or your business can’t live without?
14 – What book or resource would you recommend? Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why” and Audible
10 – Who is your public hero? Richard Branson
49 – Todd leaves the listeners with this message: It’s always better to start now. Whatever you have, wherever you go, just start.
