ABOUT OUR GUEST:
Pam Brossman is a 10 Times #1 Amazon Best Selling Author, Digital Media Speaker, Consultant and founder of #1 Women’s Success Club, Awesome Women Inc. She has mentored and self-published over 50 Best Selling Authors from her Best Seller programs.
At 01:22 and 11:35, she recounts her experience with Richard Branson and what she learned on his island. One of Richard Branson’s beliefs is that the more good you do, the more good comes to you. Her stay on the island inspired her to create a 4-day luxury retreat for Women Entrepreneurs in October called ReVampU. She’s rented a mansion and will be taking seven women with her to reposition, repackage, and repromote their area of expertise in those 4 days.
A successful and driven woman, Pam shares at the 03:20 mark how her story begins with her finding a four-leaf clover when she was eight years old. At the age of 18, she jumped on a plane headed for Australia with 500 bucks to her name. It was either make it work or fail – and she decided to make it work. At the age of 42, when she had her child, she noticed how her husband – an entrepreneur – was spending all his days at the beach while she was stuck in an office – and that just didn’t add up for her. She quit her job and figured out how to create an online business. The rest is history.
However, every successful person – as Pam puts it – has a failure story. She lost her million dollar home due to a financial mistake and sunk into depression for four years. What made her flip the switch back on was love for her son. It wasn’t the future she wanted for him, and it wasn’t the future she wanted for herself either.
She shares some advice at 06:43 on becoming a successful digital marketer – become a specialist, Pam says, not a generalist. Find your one thing. By specializing in one area, you stand out. Create a business model that works for you. Create a business that you love, she says, because if you don’t love it, you’ll self-sabotage yourself.
At 10:00, she shares the advice she would have given herself 20 years ago: become your own boss sooner rather than later. Take a leap of faith. Jump off the success cliff and see where you land. See every mistake as the next step up the success ladder.
At 15:46, she shares the best piece of advice she’s ever received: focus on one thing at a time. She recalls a time when she was multi-tasking. Doing a lot of things at one time, but not doing any of these things well. One of her personal habits that she attributes most to her success, she calls “forced implementation” – she goes on social media and tells people that she’s doing this project and she’s going to finish it in a certain amount of time – and then she’s forced to follow through as she’s publicly announced it.
She also admits that her business isn’t so much dependent on an app or platform as it is on two specific technologies: her microphone and her video camera. She recommends John F. Demartini’s “How to Make One Hell of a Profit and Still Get to Heaven” and believes that the world needs more people helping each other to become self-sustainable. Her public hero is Richard Branson. She reminds the listeners to always SOAR – See it, Own it, Action it, Reach it.
