PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
55 – Meet Aaron Witnish, Co-Founder of the Australian Institute of Coaching. Their current focus is helping people who want to be become world-class coaches reach their dream – people who genuinely want to make a difference and an impact through their coaching, and not just coach as a hobby
39 – Aaron reveals the most exciting thing happening right now with his business. They’ve just recently gotten a show in the US, on the “Whatever It Takes” Network, or Grant Cardone TV. This show aims to help viewers become world-class coaches.
19 – Aaron’s Story – who he was, where he started (selling DVD’s straight out of his locker), and how he got to where he is now. What others would see as setbacks – quitting university 6 months in, losing a mentor, spending and losing huge amounts of money – Aaron used as stepping stones to eventually start the Australian Institute of Coaching, along with his co-founder Jack Murray
37 – Aaron’s Turning Point – he says his business, his actions, and his results changed dramatically when he changed his mindset about coaching and made it about other people, and not about himself
13 – Aaron shares some advice for the listeners – you really want to specialize, Aaron says. You need to ask yourself what specific problem can you solve and thus make an impact, and then focus on that. Don’t worry about having to expand outside your field of expertise
58 – After that, you need to announce yourself. You need to ask people who have that specific problem you can solve, and then let them know that you can solve it. Most people wait way too long before asking people if they need help, and that’s their biggest mistake
38 – Aaron shares the number one tip in using live video platforms such as Periscope and Meerkat to reach your desired target market: transparency. He recommends aspiring coaches and business owners be one hundred percent genuine when they present themselves to their live viewers
46 – Time Travel Moment: If you could go back in time 20 years and tell yourself one thing (other than “invest in Apple shares!”) what advice would you give yourself? “Just get sold on yourself,” Aaron says. Fear of criticism or failure stops people from achieving what they want. Only by truly believing in what you have to offer can you overcome your fears, just go for it, and get the results you want
40 – What is freedom for you? Having the choice to do whatever you want to do with your time. At the end of the day, it dials down to choice. You get to decide how the day pans out. The best part of Freedom is that you don’t need a lot of money to get there.
40 – If you had to start from scratch, with nothing but your experience, what’s the first thing you’d do? Aaron says he’d look for someone who could push him into the marketplace. Someone who could basically be a “cheerleader”, as he puts it. He would build a relationship – a partnership – and add value to it
36 – But how do you create a partnership and add value to it? Aaron says to basically connect to the person who you aspire to be or the person who’s currently in the place you want to be. If they’re unavailable or if a lot of people are vying for their time, connect to the people closest to them or around them and work your way up.
40 – Start of the Quickfire Questions:
43 – What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
51 – Can you share one of your personal habits you strongly believe contributes to your success?
58 – What piece of technology, equipment, or app can you or your business not survive without?
09 – What book or resource would you recommend? Ten X Rule by Grant Cardone
25 – Who is your public hero?
10 – What’s the world missing?
02 – Aaron’s message to the listeners: What are you waiting for?
